This bass is finished as Walnut. Autumnglo was available up to and including 1970. Then Walnut was introduced in 1973 and continued on until 1985 as a standard finish.
Any instruments made from 1973 on would be Walnut. Seeing that his bass was made in 1979, it must be finished in Walnut.
These two finishes are very similar except that Walnut has a glossy finish and Autumnglo has a satin finish if I remember correctly what JH told me a fews years back.
What ever the finish, this is a great finish/hardware combination!

If you read my post in the wish list thread, you will see how good my memory is on the finishes (where's the embarrassement icon?). I guess it doesn't help that the dealers always get this wrong.

Okay, on my computer, I like Sergio's pic, but not Steve's - too brown. I like more of the browny red/faded cherry look.

that one(79 autumglo) Sergio put up looks almost identical to my 82'...even though in 82' it was listed as walnut..

the one at Chicago Music Exchange is what most Autumnglos (Walnut rather I guess) that I have seen look like. Sergio's almost looks like a Fireglo, except for the brown near the edges.
