I'm new on the discussion board, but have been referencing info about Rickenbackers for a few weeks. A lot of knowledgeable folks here. I have a '66 335 that needs new frets. I removed one fret, cleaned slot and took a measure with a feeler gauge at .021 (snug fit). At Stew-Mac all their fret tang widths are .023. All Parts, .020, .024, etc. Would like to get a source for proper frets. Any help would surely be appreciated.

Stew-Mac #148 is very close to Rick guitar specs. Their fret tang measures .020-.021 on every length that I checked in my stock. LMI FW74 is good, too.

Wire tangs at .024 and larger are generally classified as re-fret wire and are used where the fret slots are compressed or slightly torn. Stewmac sells wire in the .022 -.023 range that is suitable for new fret work or re-fret on relatively clean slots. I have seen re-fret wire sizes up to .028 but I am told that wire up to .032 exists.
