Tom Petty - Hollywood Bowl Show 9-26 lots of Rics

Wow !!! That was an awesome show last night !! Campbell and Petty changed guitars for every single song, and in my estimation, Rickenbacker was the winner. My mental note counted, I think, four different Rics used by Mike Campbell during the show and maybe 3 different Rics used by TP. I only saw Scott Thurston use one MG Ric for one song towards the end of the show and Ron B. did not use a Ric bass at all, (like he did on the Leno show in July) RB unfortunately played the same white Fender Jazz bass the whole time.

I thought Ric guitars dominated the show --- there were only a few songs where neither MC or TP was not at least one of them using a Ric. Having seen the TPHB 2005 show last August at Irvine Meadows, I thought the Ric dominance was much more a factor last night at the Hollywood Bowl.

The other thing I enjoyed so much was that the lighting and big screen used to complement the musicians on stage really emphasized the beauty of Ric guitars. I have seen a few Fireglo Rics on stage before -- but Campbell's 360-12 was just dazzling bright on the screen and the red color was illuminating as I have never seen a Ric shine before. It may have been an optical illusion and the hue of the lighting - but his FG Ric 360-12 sure looked beautiful under the lights.

I know several Forumites were attending last night --- what were your views/opinions ??

I'm not sure why it's in the Conferences and Confluences section, but there is a significant thread there:
