What would you want to buy NEW from Rickenbacker?
Vintage type (re-issue) instruments, especially basses are the top of the heap from what I read, and what I personally want.
I think a "Please Consider Producing This" Topic would be constructive.

I prefer the new basses with modern features.
I have a Mapleglo V63. That takes care of my "vintage" fix.

I play both 4 and 5 string basses and am really pleased with current RIC production of 4 stringers. A 4004CII/5 is one of my strongest RIC desires these days. When JH is ready and able to produce them, they will come. The day they are announced, my order will be placed.

People do things for all sorts of reasons. I myself am thinning the herd a little. No particular reason,, just feel the need.

I've played two 4004Cii5's. If I'd picked one up in a music store and played it(ya,like THAT will ever happen)I would have put it right back. The weakness in volume of the B and G strings was just wrong. My short scale 5 string 3000 has a better B string. The construction and finish was top notch though. Too bad. Then again, while many 5 string players like the wider spacing, I do not. Jeff's right. You're better off modding a 4004.

People forget that the 4003s5 is essentially a 4003 bass with 5 strings put on that same body and neck, and a longer headstock. A 4004 modded is that same idea, except with a wider fretboard to start with.

that 4004cii5 for sale would be an excellent bass with t-bird pickups in it ...
