Geez... that's frustrating.

Roy, I found that fascinating! What a lucky guy.

In the beginning it was Lennon's abrasive nature that kept some fans and stage-mates away from him.

How sad and ironic that in the end his reaching out to others, as witnessed by the sort of kindness in this situation, would enable disingenuous others to take his life.

Very cool story.

Very sad. I remember the night he got shot, I heard it around 11 that night on TV. This was supposed to be a special time in my life. I was flying out to Germany the next week to begin an album which of course was going to be a big smash and turn me and my band into stars. This put a definite damper on everyone I knew and especially the musicians, I think it cast a shadow on the music we recorded in this little village in Germany in a very good studio where The Scorpions who were huge at the time also recorded. The album turned out lousy and was never picked up by any label. I think that night was another turning point in my life like when the Beatles broke up. I still get very sad whenever I think about Lennon being gunned down in front of his home and what could have been, all the good ones died young.

John really was a very cool man. He paid his dues to get to the top and then he could never stop the payment cycle. The world kept demanding more and more, resulting in a deranged fan taking his life at such a young age.

The YouTube clip presented a great story in a strange sort of way. In another way, it made me very sad.

It all looks a bit - ahem - ugly to me. The guy who took the last photo of John Lennon, the guy who possesses Linda McCartney's tapes where she talks about her marriage. Looks like people are trying to make a name for themselves using the other people who are no longer alive. Like making profit on the others' tragedies.
Just my point of view.

Life, can be out of control and ugly at times.

"Our life is what we think of it" (cannot remember who said it, something must be wrong with my memory). Anyway, that's a philosophic question. Why this or that happens to certain people, why people act a certain way, etc. Sometimes it's hard to understand, sometimes impossible... It's just... personally, i would never want to be at that guy (Paul Goresh)'s place.

Roy, thanks for sharing that. I remember the day I got the news of his death and I was beside myself. My girlfriend at the time, knew how much I admired John Lennon and the Beatles, dropped everything she was doing to get me through the day. I never met John Lennon but like so many of us, he was like a close friend. Going through all the emotions in his music and seeing him in those fun movies and even those cartoons. His music playing in the background when you are at a party or with that special girl taking for granted that the music would keep coming.
That was intense and heartfelt - thanks for sharing....

I remember being at a party shortly after John died. I wasn't enjoying myself, it was a bunch of my then-wife's friends, and they were kind of snooty and all trying to out-impress each other.

At one point, "In My Life" came on the radio, and the party stopped dead in it's tracks. Everyone fell silent, heads drooping. No one took a drink, no one moved from their spot.

Suddenly, briefly, we all had a common bond in our sadness.
