In the picture of the guitar body in this auction it looks like there are two channels below the neck. Are these for the truss rods and were they inserted from the body end of the guitar rather than from the headstock as on newer guitars ?

These are truss rod slots, and they were inserted from the headstock end.

It's a common thing.
1976 4000, set neck.
