Thanks Ken. IMO Ringo is one of the most underrated rock/pop drummers of all time.
I became a big supporter of his in the 60's after my band decided to play a number of the more intricate Beatle tunes. He is truly a great drummer who has many facets that are not appreciated until you try to duplicate his work.

Very interesting site, Ken. Yes, Ringo is difficult to play. Maybe he isn't technically great, but he is very musical. I would take that most of the time.

The best drummer I ever played with wasn't fancy or technical by any means. He hated drum solos and wouldn't do one. But he was rock solid with his tempo, never sped up or slowed down during a song EVER. And he always played what was right for the song. He made my life on the road musically very nice. I told him his playing reminded me of Ringo, and it did.

I believe it Randy. The drummer I best enjoyed playing with wasn't technically the best drummer I have ever played with.
The former isn't able to do the flash stuff as well as others, but his timing and feel is better and I think the songs sound better as a result.

Ringo is a human metronome.
