As some of you know, Muse are from my town of Teignmouth. On their latest video, Knights Of Cydonia, it is great to see the bassist using a 4003FG. Not my favourite Muse song in the world, but nice to see all the same. It gives me particular pleasure, as Matthews gtrs are made by my local luthier, Hugh Manson. Hugh has a pretty severe dislike of Rickenbacker gtrs & I have come very close to arguing with him on several occasions about my love of them. I look forward to taunting him about this when I see him next week!

Funny, my luthier hates Ricks too! He rolls his eyes every time I bring one of mine in...

I saw Muse in concert in Cleveland this past September. Chris Wolstenholme used several different jazz basses and that 4003FG that was in the video. They opened with "Knights of Cydonia", and played a good variety of tunes from all their albums (though they did most of "Black Holes & Revelations"). The sound of all the basses during the show wasn't too great, however . . . Chris kept getting drowned out. I dunno if it was mixing or the venue or what (I also saw Dream Theater at this place, and the bass tone sucked there too), but I was a bit disappointed by that because Muse is *so* bass-driven. Despite that, they rocked the house, and it was awesome to see the Rickenbacker.

Yes - Chris has started using 3 different basses now - he used to be Pedulla through and through up to this album. You can hear the Rick tone on the recorded version of "Cydonia", I think he uses it on another song on the album too.
Dom the drummer has also changed his kit to get a new sound.
Off to see them at Earls court 23rd November - having seen them many times live am looking forward to hearing live sound now.
Matt is the only one staying true to his Mansons! Tell me Anthony - there is a rumour that Hugh gets many requests to build a Matt Bellamy guitar for others. Does he tell them all to get lost...?
Yeah - and I'm a Muse geek before anyone spots it!

Just to show you how old I am, I see "MUSE" and think of the Madison Square Garden concert - Musicians United for Safe Energy. (Springsteen, CS&N, James Taylor, etc.)
