I don't know what you call the metal contraption towards the bottom covering the strings. It has a switch on it with a light????

That is too funny!

OK, I'm about to duck and run for cover...EMG's sound fantastic on a Ric.

(Sound of object flying in the air)

The only thing I can say positive about that auction is this: at least the seller isn't asking $2500 for it!

Some one made a huge effort to ruin a perfectly good bass.

There's nothing at all wrong with EMG pickups, except in this instance, their location (on a Rick).
There's not even much of the body left intact.

I like EMG's too I have them on my Jazz Bass. I just would never put them on a Rickenbacker. The RIC pick-ups work just fine IMHO. Why someone would do that to a Rick is beyond me.

No one has mentioned the whacked bridge. The "contraption" appears to be covering up some bridge rout damage?

Yeah that's a basket case.

I've seen this before. Its a factory stock Rick that was produced one afternoon when some "magic mushrooms" were accidently left on the break room table.

The switch activates a time circuit that sort-of "bends" the time-space continuum. Imagine a creative slant on the old "phase shifter".

Athough rare, it never really caught on.

I'd still rock it.
