The worst day of my life....

Post by congerz83 »

Today my guitar tech informed me that my C64S has a twisted neck. He also said that the bridge had not been properly centered when bolted to the body. My first instinct was to return to the place I bought it from. But Rickenbacker assured me that the best thing will be to send it to them directly. I may hang myself. I realize I'll be waiting months till this gets resolved. Ugggghhh. I'm so depressed I just ordered a Yamaha BB414 in wine red.

Has any one sent a bass back to the factory? How do you guys rate the service.

I've had a guitar sent back for some touch up work on the finish. While it was there they thought they thought the TRC was not up to par and they replaced that too. It didn't take long at all. It was a matter of a few weeks, including shipping.

Months? Not bloody likely.

Enjoy the Yamaha until your REAL bass returns to the fold!

Hang in there Richard,

I feel your pain, I've been there. I had to send a RIC back to the factory shortly after purchase due to a neck issue also. My local guy couldn't get it right.

Boy, did I sweat that one out. The bass came back in flawless condition, total turn around time about 10 days, INCLUDING SHIPPING time.
The neck as been ROCK SOLID since and has NEVER needed another adjustment...that was years ago!

It came back polished and cleaned...just like new. Just pack it VERY WELL and INSURE it. RIC will take care of the rest.

At least you are willing to give Ric a chance to address the issue, unlike this immature sap:

If they need to replace it I fear months. There is a 26 month wait for new ones.

My bass was a LIMITED EDITION. I thought, "oh no, if they can't fix it, I CAN'T get ANOTHER ONE"! I obsessed, didn't sleep, etc. It was almost like having a family member in the hospital.

It was all for nothing. It is STILL my best playing RIC to this day, and my local guy said "they'll never fix it". Well, they did!

Go through the channels, speak to customer service. I'm sure you will get the attention you deserve.

26 months for a new one and a repair are 2 different things. Give RIC a call and I promise they will take care of you. I'm talking from experience.

We are ALL immature saps from time to time...it goes with the territory of being Rick-obsessed.

Given time, cooler heads prevail.

I was referring to me. Not on this board, but the RIC board. I went off on some guy over there and got a stern warning. The first warning of this nature since I was 6 years old.
