I did too, Simer. And who didn't put out some stinkers in the 80's. These guys wanted to try to adapt to a changing music scene. Some did well, others not so. But by 80's standards these albums were up to par. And for Macca disciples (me and Simer) fantastic.

The bass line for "Silly Love Songs" is really memorable, I agree...too bad about the rest of the album.
“I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did.”

I thought "Warm and Beautiful" was one of his best love songs. I'm planning that for my wedding. Just like "Beautiful Night" very under-rated.

See, there you go Richard. On the road to recovery.

Paul, he always has a bum album when it is a prelude to something else he was working on. I think his mind was on the huge upcoming US Tour when he recorded SOS. He threw an album together to have something to plug. But the tour was his #1 priority. I think he did the same thing with Pipes of Peace. Maybe two good tracks on the album which seemed to be an inconvenience for him to make. He was filming Broad Street at the time. You can tell some of the songs were elbowed from Tug of War.

Richard, I think Press To Play is one of those albums of Paul trying to keep up with the trends. Didn't Phil Ramone produce that? Phil was pretty hot then. How could it fail? Still I like almost all the songs except "Only Love Remains". The bonus tracks on the CD are throw aways, but harmless.

Sorry I forgot this thread and I got your message too!

My chief tech told me the bass had a dip in the neck but that it played just fine. That isn't uncommon for this particular model given the slimmer neck. Unfortunately, that's kind of the trade off, the 4003 is more baseball batty but straight, while the 4001 is probably comfier but more prone to not being straight (which doesn't always mean the neck is unplayable though). However, if the bass did not play the way it should, I would not have authorized it to leave the factory.

He did say the bridge needed to be replaced, so we did that.
