Bizarre / horrible. Take your pick.
Am I the only person on here that thinks Jon Anderson's voice is like nails on a chalkboard?

You're not the only one!

It certainly did in the 80s.
Still, nails on a chalkboard sounds better than cats being tortured (Robert Plant.)

Agreed! Talk about personal preferences, yet I like Bob Dylan...going to see him tonight here in rainy Toronto.
And I love Kate Bush; and my wife runs screaming from the room...which she says is exactly how Ms. Kate sounds to her.

Well, my wife accuses me of collecting music by people with "different" voices, but I like them. Each to their own. I just thought it weird Yes doing Purple Haze.

The LA-style wank guitar far outtrumps Jon's voice here for awful factor, IMO. A real low point for Yes lineups. I remember actually being BORED at the Yes show for that tour-- never thought that would happen.

Yes did have a rep for doing wacked covers. This just seems to fall in line with that. I know folks who think their versions of Beatles, Simon & Grafunkel, etc. tunes stink. So while not on my top ten fave list (actually pretty far down there) I still find this interesting....?

Yes covers are so great because they took the song core and made them theirs. No one plays the songs they covered like they do. I have always considered "America" to be the Yes classic lineup's quintessential sound. It cooks!

LA-style wank guitar...I have to remember that.
I was in LA in the 80s. You coulnd't walk ten paces in any direction without running into it. Ugh.
And, of course, ten years later it was still playing in the background of Baywatch episodes.

Dylan's voice is as thrashed as can get...and I can't get enough of it on his latest CD, Modern Times. Blatant plug, sorry.

What is that LA Wank style, if you please? I lived here then as now, but I was following the roots scene then.

"Dylan's voice is as thrashed as can get..."
He doesn't even form words any more.
