It is clearly not a '69 as it has a skunk stripe.

If its a real ric, it looks like a 74 - 75 4001 not an S. Geez, do some research before you put something like that up for $7500.

"Geez, do some research"
Sometimes it works. This
set-neck S model was listed as a "Rare 4001 v63 1963 Reissue!" and was BIN'ed within minutes at $1,500. Still a good deal, as it has a horseshoe and toaster.

I pre-judged the set neck models of 4000/S basses, I figured the quintessential force behind any 4000-series' tone lies predominantly in the neck-through construction.
However, just this week, I've come across a 1972 FG 4000 with a set neck. It's delightful. The sound it makes is pure delight. And I didn't miss the bass pickup, either! Loved it.

Henny, If you are going to pass on the 4000 please let me know. Down here in Bristol an old Ric is a very rare sight. Thanks, Bob

Henny, no shame in that, I did exactly the same before playing (and subsequently buying) my 73 4000. I'll never forget taking my 72 4001 in to try alongside it, and in terms of power the 4000 blew the doors off it. I did find later that my 4001s treble pickup was dying, but still, even replaced with one of Sergio's the 4000 happily keeps up with it. I prefer my 4000 to any post-72 4001 I've ever played. I'm currently looking after my old 76 4001 azure for its owner, and despite the cap mod, my 4000 sounds much better to my ears, and is if anything more powerful.

The one I have near me is definitely a '72, identical in build to that one above, except it's got Grovers and the two holes where the thumbrest once was.
De-lightful bass. If anybody wants in, I'll put you through to the right people.
