Yep ... I got 2 or 3 of them ... they look similar and sound similar to the real thing ... they are a little bigger in height and width ... they are a little hotter than the real thing 7.34k ohms ...

I never heard of them. But I read some interesting reviews after some googling. Their homepage seems to be: http://store.guitarfetish.com/index.html

Did you use them in front with a pickguard mod or use them in the treble position Jeff ?

I have tried them in the neck position on a couple of basses ...

Jeff, How do they sound on a bass?

they sound a lot like the real thing ... the real toasters are slightly better sounding ... the GFS a little louder ... the GFS toasters are more prone to microphonic feedback than a real toaster ... The best application for the GFS toaster is a late 70s 4001 bass ... some of the 70s 4001 basses had the neck pickup sitting in a canyon ... I had a 78 or 79 jetglo that no matter how high I adjusted the neck pickup it was still too low ... so I put in a GFS toaster and gained another 1/16" ...

Anyway Rickenbacker shut them down for trademark violation so you can't get the GFS toasters any more ... the ones that I have have been sitting in a box for a few years ... I tried them in a 4001, 4003, 4004, and a non-ric bass ... I am currently not using them ...

Another thing I might try is using the slightly larger GFS toaster cover on a hb1 pickup ...

I think GFS had another version of that pickup that looked like the hb1 ...
