Hey gang. I am listening to this CD, the "Wildest Dreams" track. What is that bass? Sounds bright like a synth, or maybe acous/elec. Anyone know?

If memory serves, John Lodge is playing a Fender Jazz bass on this. Anyone's guess as to what effects he's using?

Fender actually issued some sort of a John Lodge limited edition/signatire bass some time ago; I remember seeing one for sale at a quite reasonable price and thought "Too bad he played Fenders."

Here you go Jason, sorry for the poor pic quality....Well, it was SOME KIND of Jazz, I don't think it was the John Lodge custom though.
Those 3 black dots on the upper bout are picks, not control knobs by the way...

I believe that the bass line on Wildest Dreams is doubled with a synthesizer ... and there are digital drums in there as well ... in other words you are not hearing just the bass line there ...
I remember one band I played in did a demo CD for bar owners ... one of the songs was "my own worst enemy" ... I listened and said wow my bass sounds awesome on that song ... so I isolated the track and the bass sounded just ok ... what made it sound awesome was the drum track ... specifically the bass drum and and the bass guitar hitting the same note together ...

Tony, please review the meaning of "aspect ratio" ...

So Gary? John Lodge is not really that tall?

That bass looks like a Precision pupped LemmyFender.

Thanks, gang! What an interesting and unexpected answer. I thought surely it was an acous/elec. Very bright, wouldn't you say?

"Tony, please review the meaning of "aspect ratio" ... LOL...
Hey Gary,
One out of two isn't bad!

I kind of like the way it made him skinny & tall, I should try that with a picture of me!

Yep, we older guys can benefit from that!
