I really need some feedback here about the neck profile of YOUR C63. I bought an early production model a while back and the neck was FAT. In comparison, my CW was average, or medium and my '66 360 12-string is thin. Frankly, I was expecting more of thin 60s version or at least no more than a medium thickness like the CW. This one had a fat neck. Not to my liking at all. So, I am wondering what kind of variation is out with the C63 12-strings. How would you explain yours?

A friend of mine just bought a BB 340, the neck is like a baseball bat. A week later, he bought a BB 330 and the neck was more "normal" or thinner. The variation in profile, within each model, is concerning to me and makes me extremely gun-shy buying one without playing first. Before, I never had a real concern buying a model sight unseen.

There are other things that are concerning to me about the c63 and that's the crown radius. It's listed at 7.5", which is like my '69 365OS, but the one I got was measured a 10". I can accept this now if they are all the same but the neck variation is the real concern for me. I dislike fat necked Rics. I am considering another C63 (sight-unseen) and that's why I would like your feed back. Thanks much!

I can understand your dislike for 'clubby' necks, Bill. My '04 330 FG neck is 'fat' compared to the '05 330 MB that I have in the US. They do seem to vary quite a bit - the MB has a flatter 'D' profile, while the FG is a 'C'.

My '04 360 FG also has a 'clubby' neck, whereas my 620, 360v63 and 360v64 all have the thinner style.

I guess they will always vary as long as they are hand shaped.

Thanks for the replay Howard. I agree, there will always be variation. But from what I have seen, its mostly from model to model, not as much with in the model itself. But that isn't always true, like with your 330s. Again, I am referencing neck profiles.

I hope to hear from some of the C63 12-string owners on what their take is on the neck profile.

Bill, my c63's neck seems round near the headstock and flattens slightly out as you go up the neck. I find it very comfortable and a dream to play, not at all fat/club-like.

The c63 I had sounds exactly like Jack's description above. It was very nice.

I don't own one, but tried out the model at NAMM last year and the neck felt very different than other 12s I've had (but his is because I did most of my time on a 450/12.) I have to say I loved the neck on that guitar at the show. Eventually I'd like to get one.
