How does this change the sound?
Is it worth putting one on the treble pup or a modern 360/12?

The cap is a high pass filter. It rolls off the bass (and some mid) frequencies, giving a thinner, brighter sound. It also reduces the output from the bridge pickup.

Has anyone put them on a modern 12?

I bypass mine. I prefer to control tone with my amp along with choice of strings.
The two main tone caps work fine.

I'm considering putting a cap on the neck pu of my v64/12. I find it has too much bass for my liking. If anyone has tried this, I would appreciate your opinion also, and tell value of the cap you used.

Sounds like it is possible to do the modification like the 4003 bass tone switch. Just get the push/pull kit and then you have the option of having the cap in or out.

Or install the .0047 cap in one of the two mono jacks. One input open, the other vintage.
I do think the push/pull pot would be great for the little 5th knob on mono guitars.

For what it's worth, I have a bunch of the .0047 caps made by Cornell/Dubilier (little yellow ones) that RIC used predominantly in the 70's.
When used in my basses on the bridge pickup as they were intended, the affect is very subtle. It's actually hard for me to tell the difference in sound when I'm listening to the bridge pickup by itself. But there's a distinct difference in tone when both pickups are on. The push/pull pot is a great idea - for variance in tone, and for quick reference to be able to hear the difference in tone with it in or out. I've never tried it on the neck pickup. That sounds like something worth checking out especially if the pickup sounds bass heavy. If anyone wants one of my old .0047 caps, all I ask is two bucks for shipping, and 50 cents per cap.
