What is the correct size thread of a vintage strap bolt?

I think it is 1/4-20, just like a tripod socket size on a camera.

If you are referring to the strap bolts that were also mute screws, then the size is 10/24. I had to buy a tap recently to fix one of my 73's so it's still fresh in my mind. I believe the schaller one's made for RIC are also the same size.
