Hello! My name is Alex. I just found out about this forum a few days ago, from wikipedia I think.
I was once the proud owner of a Carl Wilson 12-string...I fell on hard times and pawned it for $400...lost it by missing the deadline..they ebay'd it immediately for $1200. I still have the COA, and I thought maybe I could find the new owner and send it to him as it does me no good...maybe send some good Rickarma my way with my next one!
My first question here is why are so many posts missing? A thread which says it has 12 posts turns out to have three..strange.
My second question is, are there better years than others in terms of quality? I'm looking at a '94 360/12 at the moment.
I have lots more questions but I'm going to try to be patient.

The missing posts thing is due to post-post editing, which occasionally happens here when unreadable stuff goes public, for whatever reason.

Quality's always good, but consistency is a factor of newer instruments, say, post '85.

What number was your CW? The new owner may well be here!

Best of luck on your search for the owner of it. It's a noble thing that you're doing. Sadly (or fortunately - depending on how you look at it), I don't own one!

Maybe the 12/3 post thing is that you are only accessing the last page of the thread (which comes up as the default when you open the thread) instead of the first of the pages.

Yep... after the 12th post in a thread, the first 10 posts are "archived" and can be accessed by a link on the top of that thread's page. And sometimes people post stuff that is out of place and it gets deleted, but that's pretty rare in comparison.

Very sorry to hear about your story. If it makes you feel any better (or just less bad) I owned two 4003S/8 JG's and sold them before the model was discontinued for about $1200 each. They go for about 2500-3000 now.

Sorry about the CW, but in regards to your quality question, I can only give you my 2 cents. I have a 370/12 RM from '89, a 360/12 from '92, and a 370/6 from 2006. The quality is excellent on all 3. If you are interested in a 12 string, the main difference in the past couple of years is that the head stock on the new ones is slotted all the way through, making re-stringing easier. Other than that, if you find one that you really like, you won't be sorry you chose it over another year's model.

Sorry to hear of your hard times. Hopefully that's fully in the past.
Several CW's have turned up on ebay in the last few months, & I must say that the FG ones are among the most beautiful guitars I've ever seen.

It is a very kind thing to offer the COA to the buyer of your guitar.
If the serial number is on the COA, it should be a simple thing to find the owner if he or she frequents this forum.

And if you sell any Ricks at a later date, at least you now know where to get fair market value from their sale (here!).

I don't remember if the serial number's on the COA or not. I'll have to check when I get home for the weekend.

R.C., the COAs that I have have both serial number and number of issue.

Like Alex, I have an errant COA, mine belonging to a 660/12TP (I got it with a silver reissue case I bought for one of mine).

I recently bought and then sold a CW/12 that didn't have the certificate. What was the number of the cert.? I can look up the sale and contact the new owner for you.

Hey, can someone explain how to read the first posts on a thread? This ain't my first forum, but I've tried to search carefully for 'page 1' of this thread for instance, and I've looked at the help page too. Arghh!
