I was in Grade 10 in 1980.
I remember it was sunny & warm for December (on the 9th of course) when we "heard the news".
My friends & I had to take the afternoon off.

It was cold, grey and snowy in Chgo, weather as depressing as the news all thru the 9th.

Not to mention the enormous clean up that began on the 8th of December due to the messy events the day before, some 65 years ago.

I will never forget that night in 1980. A friend called and shouted "turn on Monday Night Football right now", and immediately hung up.

What I remember about that night was, after band rehersal, my drummer lived in uptown Manhattan, I'd go to hang frequently after, and we'd always walk past the Dakota. On the fateful night, we had to listen to a test pressing of our first single, so we were in a different neighborhood. Not sure what the timing would have been in regards to the shooting, but...I get shivers when I think about it....
