Hi all. I am shortly to become the proud owner of a 1976 3000 bass and wondered if anyone has bright ideas on which strings are best for this. I know short scale lengths can lead to floppy, buzzing strings with the wrong choice of string. BTW, I play straight-ahead rock. Many thanks, Clarky

Are you wanting flats or rounds?

If you like round wound strings,I've been using stock Rickenbacker nickel rounds that I just cut down to fit. Gauges are .045/.055/.075/.125. For flats I use the original discontinued Maxima strings, but since those aren't available, you might try D'Addario flats. Their site lists the strings with the corresponding tension. Try not to exceed 160 lbs. total.

Thanks Dane - and Randy, I'm thinking roundwounds as I want a bit more bite (not that I've ever tried flats on a short-scale bass before so I am an ignorant here)
