I find that my 1966 machine heads on my 450/12 are a bit on the tarnished side and would like to return that 60's shine. Do you have any recommendation for putting a bit of "spit and polish" on them that might not be as messy as this old technique?

Peter ,you might try as a quick thing ,some Tarnex
(Spelling ?) you can get this at the grocery store where the Brasso and cleaners are .

You most likely have nickle tuners .I don't know what chemical you can dip that into to make it 'bright' again .Perhaps a jeweler could answer that .

I know that on the AGR there is a chemist that frequents that site ,I don't know if he verntures here or not ...but he might know.

Polishing by hand is tedious and using a Dremel tool with a buffing pad is not advisable .Wait till someone comes up with this dip answer.
