Ever wondered what kind of instruments music shops carried 24 years ago? This clip from the TV series of Fame answers that question, and there's a lot of Rickenbackers among the inventory of the shop where this clip was shot.

whoah! The shop looked familiar (we had one in Reno that looked almost just like it), but I couldn't watch the welcome back cotter/happy days visual ethic for long.

Ehhh, the bass player-at was trying to look so cool but wasn't hanging onto instant cool - they were behind him on the wall - the FG would have done it.

I remember Wurlitzers in Boston in 1977, was THE music store back then in Boston, huge place. Had many many Rics, Musicmans were brand new then, had the usual Fenders. Just about all the guitars and basses they had were made in USA, very strange huh? Lot of Ampegs also and Marshalls, those were THE bass amps and guitar amps to own too. Rics were by far the cool bass to own, I bought a new mapleglo 4001 that day, 477.00/case. The ultimate setup according to the salesman I talked to was a Ric 4001 played stereo through two SVT's, he was right too.
