Dear Rickenfriends:

It's Christmas Eve in northern California; all the preparations for the Holiday are finally finished, and I find myself with a bit of time to reflect and send this brief note of greetings and best wishes.

I consider that just two fresh years ago, I had neither owned a Rickenbacker instrument, nor known any of the wonderful people who make owning and playing Ricks such an involving, joyous thing!

You are all special, gentle, and unique people. My life would be lacking in experiences, not to have know each of you.

Join me in celebrating this season, its meaning, and its call for Peace in our universe.

Additionally, let's all hope to see our troops begin to be sent back to us in the New Year!

Hey Paul..Peace and Love to you and your family. Also warm wishes for all the forumites..thank you for making me welcome and feeling right at home!

I've owned at least one Rick for 20 years now, but since I found this forum my enjoyment & appreciation of the instruments, the company, & the feeling & philosophy behind all of it, and for that matter, music in general, has multiplied many times.
A heartfelt thanks to all involved, & best wishes in the coming years.

If the world operated more like this place, there would be no need of troops, but since they're in harm's way, a safe & happy holiday to them all, wherever they may be.

I've been receiving lots of e-mails from Forum members, wishing me and my family the best for the Holiday season...

I wish I could personally thank everyone who has made this experience so great!

I tried earlier this evening to send out e-mails, but my ISP seems to be overloaded...the messages kept bouncing back...hence the message above.

Paul, I share all your sentiments too. I also just found this board about two years and if I do nothing else every day I'm online checking out this forum. I'm a member of a bunch of 'other' boards, and that's just what they are -- 'other' boards. This one is family.

So Merry Christmas to you Paul, and all the other forumites. Let's hope this years brings a whole lot of better news and events for all of us.

As I'm typing this, I'm also watching the end of "Miracle on 34th Street", and John Payne is looking up and spotting the cane against the fireplace. Whoops...time to get teary-eyed and sappy...

Everyone needs to make a living, but no one is forced to share the amount of wisdom Paul shares in such excellent detail. This time of year I always find myself assessing life and what is important and valuable, especially as I raise two daughters and nurture a good marriage of 16 years. This year I want to call out Paul, and Dale, and John Hall and all of the Rickenbacker Forumites for providing an incredibly valuable service...for free.

In a world filled with "Help Desks" (not) and PDF manuals that are usually written by all the wrong people, we find here a place where many of the top experts in the world will diligently read your thoughts and issues, and will spend the time to guide you through perilous waters to a better understanding of your Rickenbacker. This is one of the most wonderful discoveries of the year for me, and I am deeply grateful that such a community exists in this troubled world.

And the praise also goes out to the forum members as a whole, because as "Flaming Forums" go, this one is truly civil. People speak their hearts, and when toes get stepped on, apologies usually follow. Just read the thread about longtime member Sheena no longer posting, and you see a lot of people with big hearts, truly saddened that she left.

Just an appreciation, but a deep one. Not being very handy, my family has been truly impressed by what I've done with that ugly, ****** old bass I used to play back in the day...and because of the help from all of you, they are beginning to realize that what we have here is actually a vintage 1972 Rickenbacker 4001, done up in a gorgeous Burgundyglo...a work of exquisite craftsmanship and a piece of history. Several months ago, even I did not know that.

About 3 times through Miracle on 34th Street - once colorized. I could only handle about 10 minutes of A Christmas Story, after the last 2 years doing a marathon on that one....
