Ringo Report

Hi Everyone,
Just saw Ringo's opening show at Casino Rama last night with the All-Starr Band. This years line-up includes Paul Carrack, Colin Hay, John Waite, Sheila E. and Mark Rivera.
Absolutely awesome show!!!!!! As a Beatles fanatic, I was always going to enjoy it anyway but there were more than a few moments which got me misty-eyed. In particular, he speaks about his "friend George" and then performs a song he wrote for him. Ringo opened with "It Don't Come Easy" and then went into a song he used to do with "the other band he used to be in" and performed "Honey Don't". The rest of the night was sprinkled with his Beatle songs such as "Boys", "I Wanna Be Your Man", "Honey Don't", "Act Naturally", "Yellow Submarine", "Don't Pass Me By" (in which he joked that we were to be treated to him playing the piano on the first song he ever wrote....which he then proceeded to do.
The All-Starr band were excellent - in particular Sheila E.- the woman is a dynamo and the syncronization between her and Ringo on drums was amazing....I was really impressed with Paul Carrack and Mark Rivera - a mainstay on the All-Starr band tour- who played sax, harp, bass, you name it....the guy is super talented. John Waite played bass and during the older Beatle numbers, he brandished a Hofner 500/1.
There was a rather touching moment when Ringo left the rest of the band on stage and they did a rendition of "We Can Work It Out" and "Here Comes The Sun" - again, a few misty-eyed folks around me with that one......and he closed the show with the only fitting song he could have in "With A Little Help From My Friends".......
He plays there again tonight before heading off with the rest of the tour AND the performance last night was videotaped for future broadcast....so it looks as if we'll get to see it again at some point......
