Now, I'm a huge Beatles' fan, but it seems like Beatlemania will eventually become a religion unto itself...

I have visions of fans reverently walking up to the Quarrymen stage and genuflecting...

Whoa, there's actually a recording of the Quarrymen's performance from the fete? Unbeliveable.

John, I didn't see anything about a recording. If one exists I believe it would bring a ridiculous chunk of change. Is there one?

Thanks for the link, Jerry!

From the article, Mike:
A recording of The Quarrymen's performance, made on a reel-to-reel tape, was bought by EMI for £78,000 at auction in 1994. On the tape was the unmistakable voice of Lennon, singing Elvis Presley's Baby, Let's Play House and British skiffle song Puttin' On The Style.

You know, John, I roughly remember that. Have no idea what that would bring now. $150,000 for 1994 would transfer nicely into todays market. Also, the guy who paid for that then probably has no intention of selling that now.

Amazing how much of their history exists.

Has any other group of people been so thoroughly scrutinized, deified and analyzed?

I've heard a short bit of that... horrible recording but in the background you can hear John's voice.

I dont know about walking up to the Quarrymen stage and genuflecting, but reverently genuflecting in front of the the Cavern stage is perfectly understandable.... oops, I forgot - that exact stage was bulldozed.
