I can't find a similar model on rickbeat or the Rickenbacker catalogs on their site. 400-series-like pickguard, 325 horns. Input jack on the pickguard. Seller says he can't find a serial number. I'm no expert and wonder what it is.

Judging by this shot, it looks to have been refinished some time ago.
No idea what model it is, sorry.

My guess is that this guitar was born a 450 and had the horns shaved down, among other modifications.

Exactly right. I like it. If I had it, I'd redo the pickguard shape but I do like the mods to the body shape

No serial number because it would have been on the original bridge plate, which has been replaced with the trapeze...

Okay. I may sound ignorant, but I'll take the chance. Here goes: I'm looking at an allegedly 1972 4001 harness (pickups not included). Selector switch on it is Switchcraft, there is no .0047 cap, only two light blue tone control caps reading ".1K 250V FMD", connecting leads are black, and all four pots are of a species never encountered before

and read "A.B JA I NO56S254MA 250K-OHM TYPE J" on their back. No date code in sight. The mono jack socket (the stereo one is gone) is Switchcraft. What have I got? Thanks for reading.

Add translation service:
You are bidding on a Rickenbacker 610 guitar. The guitar has been enhanced (hacked up) to appear as a 320.
The Rickenbacker features hi gain pick ups (or something like them), trapeze tail piece (of cr@p?), and Kluson tuners (made in an Asian country?). It plays very well and comes with a gig (barf) bag (that will come in handy when you pull off the pick guard (sin hider)). This is a players (an amature hack job) guitar with a very cool (disgusting) and unique (garbage like) appearance as there are not many white (hacked to bits) Ricks produced.
Priced at under $800 under (I gambled and paid $630 when you check my feedback), this guitar is worth more in parts (if they were actually real) than the buy it now price (until you take off the pickguard and see what some people can really do!)!
Payment needs to be received within 5 days of completion of auction. I will accept Paypal or Postal Money Orders (or blue chip stamps, or anything else that actually has some value). Shipping via UPS ground service with (worthless and un-needed) insurance. Serious (stupid) bidders only please.
Or maybe it just didn't have the "vibe" he was looking for?

haaaaa... come on Ray, tell us what you REALLY think.
The weird thing to me is that if someone were to go to all the trouble of reshaping a 610, why would they try to make it look like a 320? You'd think they would have gone out and bought a real 320 and then (if they really felt the urge) done something more original with the reshaping effort.

I had forgot about this one!
That was pretty harsh of me, A couple of brewskis can set things off at times.
Re: The Flip.
Sometimes ya gamble and have to make up a good story to cover your arsey!
He came out ok on the flip BTW.
