In reaction to my short solo thing, let's talk about one note solos and songs or songs in one chord.
One note solos: I guess there are plenty of those around, Niel Young's "Cynnamon girl", Lindsey Buckingham on Fleetwood mac's "The chain", Pete Townshend on "I can see for miles" name them.
One note songs.

"Early to bed" by the GREAT band Morphine.
One chord songs:
Plenty of those, Talking Heads for example "Girlfriend is better" and "Once in a lifetime" Or the Beatles' "Tomorrow never knows"

Not sure about one note, but Bo Diddley had lots of one-chord songs. And so did Creedence ("Green River", "Born on the bayou", "Commotion", etc, if i'm not mistaken of course).

Back in the day, a friend wrote & performed "The One Chord Punk Rock Song". The one chord was some variation on a ninth (I think) that was played by extending the middle finger across all strings at the fifth fret. Lyrics "This is a one chord punk rock song / it may sound sh***y but it won't last long." He actually performed it in front of about a thousand people on the day we highjacked the local FM station's concert in the park. (but that's a story for another day)

Creedence could definitely choogle on one chord, although my favorite part of Green River is when it slides from Em into C then Amaj (barefoot girl..). Love those guys.
Hey, how about Johnny One Note?

Johnny One Note...are you a jukebox kinda guy Lyle? Not a solo but the last note of "A Day In The Life" might be long enough to qualify.

A one-chord song that's not so great: The Coconut Song by Nilsson (C7 throughout). Too boring to me.

how about "one note song" by Tenacious D? I don't think it really qualifies as a song but it's funny none the less.

The song "All" by the Descendents is a one note song. E chord and the word "All".

One for the "Guilty Pleasures" thread, I guess, but I love Nilsson's "Coconut"...

Mark, I don't mind listening to it, but not playing it!
