Interesting list here of all the songs the Beatles wrote but never recorded. It would be nice to have them all on one CD!!!

I've always liked the bootlegged version of "That Means A Lot". It's too bad they didn't care much for it and gave up on the tune, although that says much for their collective talent..... that they could disregard a potentially good song, due to having so much better stuff in the hopper.
"If You've Got Troubles" is so laughable. Now that was humility in dumping that one, as it is horrendous.

I actually really like "If You've Got Trouble" as it appears on the Anthology 2 CD. How can you not love that riff that George is playing on the Tennessean (I presume)? It's not the biggest lyrical success, but its catchy.
On the other hand, I do not like That Means A Lot. That's the one I'd have tossed if I were them.

The song writer's name on the original A World Without Love single is "A. Smith"; pretty sneaky, eh?
I've always loved Bad To Me and would probably have loved a Beatles version had they done it.

All Things Must Pass would have been a killer with Lennon and McCartney on the backup vocals.

I've got about 16 tracks on a '70s EMI UK LP called "The songs that Lennon/McCartney Gave Away" it might ba available on CD. I'll have to record a CD for a listen - it's been a while. I'll post a picture when I get home - it's pretty cool...

I have only heard about half the songs on this collection and only have about half a dozen of the tracks on CD.
Have to say there are some great songs and I think that the following songs should have been recorded by the Beatles and released on their early albums in place of some of the cover versions.

I've always thought that McCartney should record an album of songs that Lennon/McCartney wrote but gave away. It would be such a great release, and it could even make for an instant classic.

There was a song released on the Apple label in mid 1968 called Sour Milk Sea, performed by Jackie Lomax and written by George Harrison. It didn't chart to well at the time, maybe because it had a lot of competition at the time from other Apple releases and was not promoted all that well. I acquired a copy of the song recently and IMO is an absolute killer.
Performing on the song are :
Jackie Lomax : Vocals, Guitar
Nicky Hopkins : Piano
Eric Clapton : Guitar
George Harrison : Guitar
Paul McCartney : Bass
Ringo Starr : Drums
Not a bad backing band !!!! And outstanding performances from all of them.
And just to prove you can get virtually anything you want on Youtube (or Ebay for that matter !!) you will find a copy of Georges demo here at :

You will probably find a copy of the Lomax release on Limewire or a file sharing service.
So does anybody know of any other performances where we had three or four of the Beatles backing other other artists, and apart from a few songs with Ringo (Photograph comes to mind) are there any other song written by George for others.

Right you are Shane, in addition, if you listen closely you can hear George's (guide) vocal also, all the way through. IMHO, this is a White Album track sans John Lennon. Incredible.
I still have a few copies of the original "Apple EP" if anyone's interested. It's a CD housed in the cardboard "Apple" sleeve and includes the other (3) first Apple artist single releases: "Come And Get It" Badfinger; "Those Were The Days" Mary Hopkin, "That's The Way God Planned It" Billy Preston as well as "Sour Milk Sea" Jackie Lomax.
