Tell us more. Where is the picture from?
Is this what Paul used in '65 on Think For Yourself?

This is indeed from the Paperback Writer sessions. The Gretsch 6120 that John briefly used can be seen.

Good eye, Mr. Biscuti! I went back and looked and went, "I'll be danged"...and I own one of those 6120s!

Yes, from the Paperback Writer sessions,
Lennon with the Gretsch 6120.
I can't remember, but I think, Peter posted the picture here some time ago.
I haven't seen a WEM Fuzzbox, yet, but 'wem' is almost readable, isn't it?
And it looks like a Maestro Fuzz clone. The cord could be the guitar cord (as it was on the Maestro fuzz they used on the 'With the Beatles sessions).

Hello
I believe these are copies of some scans I made from a Beatles Monthly a couple of years ago and posted on another site. They are indeed images of the Paperback Writer session.
The pedal is not a Project 5 but in fact a WEM Rush Pep.
Cheers, Ben

O.K., NOW I found these discussions in the web!
As so often,I am only half right! And always too late
But I saw the other picture (again) with
George on Nusonic bass,
John on Gretsch
Ringo on drums
and Paul on Casino.
Was this photo from the Paperback Writer sessions, too?
O.K., Paul played the signature lick on Paperback writer. But he played the 'new bass', the Rickenbacker, too.
Very confusing to me.
By the way, I am convinced, John played the
distorted (Lead-) guitar on "She said, she said".
With the WEM rush pep?
Ben, what do you think?

Didn't John do the complex distorted rhythm part on "She Said, She Said"?
I thought George did the actual lead work. Could be wrong though!!
