The back has that uneven look that leads me to believe faded white.

what Scott says +1, also there are a few small dings.
Isn't this the 'S' that recently sold for 2K USD?

I don't get people. He(she) is speculating that fools such as him(her)self will bid this up for profit. If this doesn't approach 2K by auction end, prepare for skulduggery like "item no longer for sale", or shill(sp?) bidding.

I have talked to this seller and he had it listed on another bass site for sale and apparently did not get the response that he was looking for so it is back on the bay. it is faded white....would make a nice CS copy if someone fixed up the headstock wings and changed out the p/ups and 'gard..

Yes, that's what RIC white looks like after the CV yellows. I've had one for 25 years. Now it is getting a makeover by Paul W. I like the faded color in photos, but not in person. It dries up, cracks easily, yellows unevenly, and rubs off the back of the neck(making it a brighter white).

Wes-
I don't think that this guy is trying to make a profit on this one. He was offering it on some other forum for $1800.00. I think he just decided that he doesn't want the bass.

Foolish then to pay way over what something is worth, and then flip it for less soon after; seems very impulsive. This bass should realistically bring < $1300.

Yes. It sounds like he got into a testosterone-fueled ebay bidding war and paid way too much for this nice 4001S.

unfortunately, that is the way ebay works.....you have to be a stud and get it before anybody else and it does not matter as long as you think you got it on your terms.....
