Any updates on Anniversary models?

Now that 2007 is here, I have been looking for any updates on Anniversary model delivery.

I am sure I'm not the only one wondering about this. Maybe alot of us are hesitant to ask as we may upset somebody, or give the impression that we do not respect the quality and master craftmanship of such a great product. I certainly respect these things, but I don't feel like I should feel guilty in asking about what's going on (which I do).

I know we're all patient, but I would just like to have some idea of a delivery time frame, even within say a 3-month period.

I am waiting for a 4003. JH mentioned that there was an issue with 3rd party component quality and that may have delayed something in one or more models. Is that the case with the 4003s?

Some good things about delays are more of a chance that we'll get the slimmer neck and adjustable pickup poles in the 4003s. If that were to be confirmed then it would definitely help the wait!

I was watching something on TV recently...a guy was playing a Steinway piano. I am not up on the best quality pianos but I have always associated Steinway with quality craftmanship. It popped into my head that I would not expect Steinway to rush a new piano out to me and that I would just wait for it. Then I associated that with my thoughts of waiting for my new 4003, and that I must be patient. So the battle continues on, as I a not the most patient guy usually. Hopefully there is nothing wrong with asking though!

Greg, due to tight production schedules at the RIC plant, involving not only DCMs but the entire RIC line, when one product run is interrupted, others are rescheduled to fit in its place. This is the case with the DCMs; there were a couple of interruptions--first in the 300 series and then with the 4003s. Then there was the usual RIC holiday hiatus, which is a tradition and which the employees look forward to.

There are 75th Anniversary models in production right now, and although I cannot speak for the factory "on the record", I know that the plans are to wrap up the entire production run of the 75th Anniversary instruments early this year.

As everybody who has received their DCM can attest, these instruments are beautiful and built to the usual high RIC standard. They are worth waiting for, and remember that the wait on these has been much shorter than it is for "regular" Rick production models.

Thank you very much Paul. This information is very helpful, and in my case really helps to keep my patience in check. It's just nice to know that things are happening and there are still near-term delivery goals in mind at RIC.

Just like waiting for anything else that's worth waiting for, the excitement leading up to the acquisition should be appreciated. Time passes too quickly, and all of the sudden it will be years from now and I'll remember the excitement of waiting for my first new Rick!

Greg, I guarantee you'll love the color of your new 4003DCM. My 330 is absolutely stunning.

Greg , waiting on newly ordered ricks is just the way it is right now. I ordered a jetglo Laredo in Oct. 06 and was told it could take up to eighteen months. But it's all good because it's paid for and some day when I least expect it, it will show up. Some of the people who ordered Lemmy S.E.'s waited three or four years.

I'm patient. I've still got my CS and my '68 to keep me company.

I hear you Greg,

I have mine paid for but I'm still in no rush.

As you mentioned, the longer it takes, the more of those old profile necks that will be used up. Heck, I don't care if I have to wait a year, to get that new neck profile, it's more than worth the wait for me.

I also have a 4003FL on order since 1/3/06 and was told it could be an additional year or more until she is born. Not a problem there either.
Who knows, anything is possible. RIC might add some new goodie between now and then and I could get a bonus like I did with the walnut ears & the vintage tone switch!

"Good things come to those who wait" really applies here. It sounds like you're in a good place with all this. As you said, you will have a lifetime to sweet playing time with her when she arrives!

I'm still waiting on a 360 DCM that I ordered. Is anyone else still waiting on a 360 or have all the others been delivered and I'm the last (or least) lucky soul?

I'd be willing to bet that the final 330's and 360's will be shipped in short order, leaving RIC with only the 4003's and 660's to take care of.

In a related DCM thread, I related that Ben told me at the NAMM show that the 660s were very close to being done and that they would be shipping out in the not-too-distant future.
