Finish Friendly Guitar Stands

I'm in need of a new guitar stand, but am aware of the nasty marks these cheap rubber trim tubes can lead to. Are there good quality stands out there that don't fall apart after 6 months and that are friendly to my Rick's finish? I have the 4001CS and an old Tux(whitestar) bass.

I have Ultimates, they don't leave any marks but can be a little fragile, or at least the ones I bought three years ago were.

I have some stand by K&M (errr... konig and meyer...or something)
was cheap and dosent leave any marks

I have two stands made by On-Stage Stands. I bought them on sale last year at Guitar Center for 10 bucks each.
I never had marking trouble with the rubber surgical tubing.

I have both On-Stage and K&M stands and have no problems with them.
One thing I've thought of trying with some of the other stands is to wrap the tubing with PTFE (Teflon®) tape (thread seal tape) because PTFE contains no dyes, fillers, antioxidants, etc., and it doesn't dissolve other things, (except for other perfluorochemicals), so it would be the most chemically inert and non-reactive substance to have next to a guitar finish.

I have 7 On-Stage stands and they’ve held up well with a little mod. My wife went to the fabric store and bought material very similar to the fabric inside guitar cases and hot glued it to the stand. Works really well and looks pretty cool

I use the On Stage stands as well. So far so good. I just wish I could find more locally.

Don't everyone scream at once, but I've been using Carvin stands for a long time. They make one called a Frame Stand. I've modified it a bit and put some some cloth where the back rests. Very sturdy. I originally bought one for my Eko acoustic electric bass which is very wide and the frame stand has adjustments for that, but I bought a few more for my other basses. They work well and they are only around $15 from the Carvin website.

For me, the presence of surgical rubber is a key. While other rubbers may be safe, I have never known surgical rubber to harm an instrument.

Bob-- It is truly amazing how great minds think alike! ~LOL~ You are right on the money concerning the Ultimate Axcel stands. They're very lightweight but mine don't seem to be the least bit fragile. I love 'em.

Yeah Jeffery, the ultimates are lightweight and Rics look very cool in them also.

I believe the Carvin products are re-labled Ultimate products. I've got a couple K&Ms that I like.

Ultimate's all the way. They're the best stands that i've ever bought.
