Yea, I must agree - Great article. I sometimes get amazed at these guys who helped create these legendary sounds and are so matter-of-fact about it. One of the great things about DP music to me was how the bass overtones were an actual part of the underlying sound... the the guy who created it says he feels it was "muddying things up"!! Maybe they are just too close to it all to be objective after so many years, or maybe they just don't take it so seriously. Either way, it's great to hear honest thoughts from these guys. Now that his 4001 has been restored, perhaps we'll hear some new tunes on it in the near future....

Great article!
It's funny that some of the most influential Rick players of the past were really looking for something else, while those they inspired to get a Rick were thinking that they already had the ultimate tone.
