Hmmm....just a weird gimmick.Image

And why do all those really expensive custom basses look like they are made out of like mahogany toilet seats?

Like it or not. I hate it.
As a vertical bass, I prefer the one made by Moses Graphite.
But over all, I prefer my horizontal 4003 Image

The oddest bass I own is a late-1970s Bunker ProStar:

I find there is a general lack of asthetic balance in the majority of bass designs. They are either clunky, bulbous, or just downright ugly. Very few companies have struck a design that I find visually attractive.

Well, if you really like odd basses, this one should give you satisfaction... Image

But, also cool looking, too!!!

Then there are the Spalt basses, which look like they are made from kidneys: http://www.spaltbasses.com/bassmodels.html

John (Mortivan), the Bunker plays and sounds fine to me (this coming from a rhythn guitar player, so take my comments with a grain of salt). The main difference between it and other basses is that it has a very narrow (width) neck, so it takes a little re-adjustment when I play it.

Robert, this helluva bass is a Basslab. I agree with you, it looks quite fine.

You can check info on the Basslab website :

Most of these basses would look right at home in the Star Wars bar.
