Thanks for the report R.C. I was at a party and couldn't hear what was going on for sure but did see that George Martin was actually there. I was at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York City around 1990 and there was a Harptone guitar on the wall that was supposedly George's. I would imagine this had to be the same guitar as I don't think he had two Harptones. I don't remember seeing any pictures of him playing a Harptone, anybody know of any?

I heard that the couple who won Paul's Lexus (the one that travelled to every venue during his last tour and that was outfitted Macca-style) were also there auctioning the car. Is that right? Somebody told me that they were expecting to fetch at in the six figures but ended up selling it for 50K.

I entered the contest to win that car through Adopt-A-Minefield. Turns out the folks that won live in Seattle as well Image

I was there just for the R&R auction portion. The car auctions held in that arena are like being at a WHO concert in the 70s with no earplugs. I think the $50K for the car is reasonable and right on target. Six figures - no. There is no big celebrity value for a car barely used and basically considered a loaner, or something like that. I sold a chrysler used by Tiger Woods at Augusta when he won The Masters for about $14K, and that car had about 75 miles on it.
