well nevermind. someone popped the bin.

the fretboard inlays and trussrod cover looks funny to me. it also looks like the tuners were changed.

Looks pretty darn real, but will it ever need a refinish to fix the Issues!!!

The checkerboard binding and the plastic full-width (NOT MOP abalone-shell) fret markers put it at a serial number series of MCxxxx to MDxxxx corresponding to March-April 1973, bolstered by the wavy-Grover tuners. But the surround for the bridge pickup is wrong, it is the late-sixties shape. Pickguard and toggle is right, but the knobs are wrong for an early-1973. Look like modern reissue knobs from the Rick site for v63, etc, instead

Someone got a Really Great Deal at only $600, dadgummit. Wish I had seen it first Image Image Be nice to have had it for the fun alone of doing some careful woodwork, at that price!!

The bass is quite real. The seller is the bass player in American English. They are one of the best Beatle tribute bands I have ever heard. They play a festival in my hometown every summer. I have seen that bass many times.

my god what happened to that thing!!! the paint job is horrendous and those inlays look like puke and/or snot. pretty damn good deal though even though it looks really messed up.

That bass was gigged a LOT. I am not sure what he was going for with those inlays but pre-64 inlays were not far off of that look. Here is one from ny '63.

What a steal. Too bad its a lefty! Image Paul or Dale could bring that bass back to life in a jif and slap some sparkly inlays on it while he was at it.

Everytime I see your name Tom, I get the strangest desire to have a glass of wine and maybe watch a western with a hanging in it?
