When was the reissue model introduced?

It's not mentioned in the Smith book (copyright 1987) although they do discuss mandolins, nor is it mentioned in Bacon & Day (but that book is specific for guitars). On the RIC site, it first appears in the Vintage Reissue Series flyer for 1995.

According to B&D the 360/6v64 was introduced in 1991 and the 350v63 in 1994; perhaps the 5002v58's introduction coincided with one of those dates (?).

I thought it was 1996? Could be wrong?

Graham, what is the source of your info? I was merely speculating, so if you know from a good source, then that's it.

The 5002V58 does not appear in our retail price list until 1995.

Gary.... I can't remember where I saw it? I know mine is January 1997 and I thought I read prototypes were made before that? I'll have to search my memory banks Image

I have a colleague at work who has one (found it in a pawn shop for a pittance!), and it's serial number dates it to being manufactured in January, 1997.
