Which amp can I buy for a great Rick sound that's not too heavy and not too expensive? Looking for a combo possibly or cab/amp setup. Thanks.

I like my "AMPEG" B2RE with a 2X10 and 1X15. Very flexible and portable.
Sorry for the poor pix.

Well...I beg to differ, or at least offer an alternative. I bought a Yorkville XS 400h. Tube preamp, made in No. America (Canada!) by the same folks as Traynor, and production not moving to China like a lot of brands (ahem...Ampeg), or so I understand. Great warranty. And available for ~$550 shipped. Conservatively power rated as well. I also have a "Dr. Bass" cabinet stack...his BL 2260 and BL 115. Great tone, low price. Total cost for my rig was ~$1400. Very portable, and the 2260 cab could be used as a standalone cab for small settings. Your mileage may vary!

Yorkville / Traynor make some good stuff, including a very sweet all tube amp the YBA-200. As Rob says all made in North America and a great warranty.

Welcome, Rob! Looks like some nice maple on your 4003FG.

Ampeg.
Traynor's are hard to find here, the one I saw had the tube sockets mounted to the PC board, not good.

if you don't want the weight of a vintage ampeg head; having owned one, i'd agree the YBA-200 is a strong alternative.
i'd pair it with a ampeg 2x10 and 1x15 as per Kevin's set-up.

The YBA200 is a good all tube head for lightweight and tone. Good choice.
If you want really lightweight, then MarkBass is the way to go !!!

My Ampeg SVT-3PRO and 4003 bass go together like bread and butter. It's a hybrid tube/solid state amp so you get awesome tone and reliability/portability. The amp has plenty of tools for shaping the sound, but it's still very simple and easy to use. If you find one made in the USA go for it.

Kevin:
actually, the maple you see in my bass is because it's an AmberGlo. IMHO, it's a nicer look than the FG.
But, hey, it's all good if it's a RIC.
Lots of good amps out there, including Ampeg...I guess my point was to show some alternatives that were a bit cheaper than the Ampeg route, in general, for comparable specs. But again, your mileage may vary!

What are your thoughts on the Line 6 Lowdown 300 combo.
