Did Dave Hope of Kansas ever use a Rick? I was just listening to "Song for America" on Sirius, his playing is so good. I've only known him to use P-basses. ?

Scott, listening to a few of Dave's songs with Kansas (Song For America, Magnum Opus, Point..) I believe it sounds like a growly Precision. I could find no connection between Dave Hope and Rickenbacker 4001 in all my Google-ing. Couldn't find any pics either... weird.

Hope was a P-bass player through most of his career with Kansas.

I knew he was a big P-bass player, but I think a Rick would have really complimented the sound he was going for, and the overall sound of Kansas.
Maybe he just wanted to be different for the time period and didnt want to be compared to Squire and Lee.
