12 string strings...

I usually use the ric 12 string set, but when I got my 360/12 back from Paul W (what he can do is amazing) I put the Ric set on but swapped out the .10 and .13's for .09's and .12's. It still sounds great but those high octaves come out a lot easier.

I was thinking of going as far as .08 and .11 but am afraid that might sound a little wimpy.

Any thoughts?

Paul W. is fine. He posts here often. He does have a website, but he's been a bit busy, so it hasn't gone beyond a splash page:

Thank you for your inquiry!

Do you know if he makes custom nuts?

Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't?

Nice splash!

... and to answer the original question... you'd have to tweak the truss rods if you went as thin as .008's!

That depends upon how many strings were replaced. I suspect that with only a few, truss rods can remain as-is, as these very light-gauge octave strings are only a small component of the total load on the rods.
