F holes on new wave era 320s

Back in the late 70s, a shop in the Chgo area had what was then an F hole equipped FG 320 in stock. I think someone who may be active in this forum also has a similar era BG 320, also with an F hole. But most of the 78-83 320s I've come across (including my two) are solid tops. Are the F hole versions "rare" (not in the Ebay sense, heh-heh.)

Not sure if they are rare or not but my '80 320 JG is also a solid top. I had an '83 320 WHITE with an F-hole.

I own the '80 320 BG that you're probably thinking of. I used to have a '64 325 with an F-hole, but I've never seen a "new wave era" 320 with an F-hole. I suspect they are rare. I recently got a reissue 1996, so once again I've got an F-hole model. Here's my BG:

I think I saw something on Glen Lambert's page about recent 320s with "F" holes...
I would deduce from our own experiences that they are genuinely rare.

Randy, that's a beauty.
Gary, is that hole stock? That ones sweet. Ooo-wee.
The guitarist in my "new wave era" high school band had a late 70s JG sold 320.

I bought the 320 used, but it looked like the f-hole was original to the guitar.

I seem to remember reading that around 1980 is when the f-hole was made an option rather than standard, whereas before this time period it was just the opposite....

It was earlier than that. A friend of mine bought a new one in '79 that was a solid top.
That one I saw in the shop way back then, and Gary's, are the only two non-solid tops from that era that I've seen.

It's nice, but Rickinflation appears to be boosting the price a bit.

That 320 appears to have alot of "weather checking".

And fading or touch ups or something.
