MF has this '51 Squier for $99 that is tempting me...free shipping also...might be tomorrow's duo-sonic

George, my buddy's got one, I was just playing it yesterday. The fret edges were sticking way off the end of the guitar and at one point, the high E actually got caught underneath! But other than that, it's an interesting guitar that I find very pleasing to the eye.

With a new neck and a pickup upgrade, it would be a KILLER guitar.

There's a lot of cheap Fenders that just need some basic set up work done to be super guitars.

John, the 'fret sticking out issue' on the '51 could just be a time of the year humidity thing - or rather, a lack of humidity. My 650D had exactly the same problem during its first winter here in arid Minnesota - I took care of it myself with some diamond ski files, and it's never needed it since.

I, too, like the look of the '51, and for $99 it looks like an bargain - even if it may require a little work.

"the new Melody Maker from Gibson USA is an accurate, ultra-affordable recreation of the original Melody Makers of the late 1950s."

While a highly distorted sound is being played never heard nor possibly in the late 50's! :D

In discussing it on another forum, we weren't sure if it were set neck or bolt on. Set neck it is!

Also, I really, really dig that box. Image
