New member-just a quick hello

Hi, just want to say I love this forum. New here, but I've playing 12 string Rickenbackers for 20 years, and I still think Ricks are the best. My first Ric was a 1974 360/12 mapleglo, my second was a 1967 360/12 mapleglo, third which I still have is 1990 381/12 in mapleglo, and my fourth is a 2000 360/12 CW in fireglo. I'm amazed how beautiful the Carl Wilson model is! The sound, the feel,and the look makes me want to play this guitar all day.

Paul: Welcome to The Rickenbacker Forum. I am sure you will have a lot to say about Rickenbackers, having played them for 20 years.

Paul: welcome to the gang. Maybe you could tell me what is so different about a Carl Wilson...I have not played one, but I thought it was just a name game.

Steve: the Carl Wilson model has a thin top, 7.4 scatter wound pick-ups, amazing figured maple body and a great feeling neck. The guitar is a joy to play, electric or acoustic. I love my 381/12, but the CW model is lighter and sounds much brighter due to the pick-ups. It's been a while since I had my 1967 360/12, but I feel the Carl Wilson model is better. Just my opinion. If you can, play one. Also, I use Pyramid flats on both of my 12 strings.

I played my 360 MG 6 & my 360 FG CW side by side last night. The CW really is noticably lighter. The logo is different,like the vintage ones and not embossed so to speak. The heel of the neck is also square where as my 96 360 MG is rounded. There are only 21 frets versus 24 on the 70's+ rics. The triangle inlays cover all the width of the fret board. Also, the loudness of the pickups is different : toasters are quieter and playing both at the same time makes it seem more noticable. The CW has no stereo capacity albeit there are two jacks for mono. There is a checkerboard binding on the CW. There is a very nice flame on the CW. That being said, the maple on the standard 360 has a lot of beautiful figures even if it is neither tiger stripe nor birdseye per se. The "skunk tail" on the back of the neck is noticably larger on the CW and it has the vintage tuners.
The tone is different but I can't yet figure out how much.
