Ok, how the heck do you get the front panel out of the case. I need to replace the fan, and I can't get the panel out, I have even taken off the handle and, other than removing one of the blocks of wood in the back, I am clueless!
I looked at the tubes, and all but one say Electronic tube 6550A(no mfg that I can see, but they do say "Made in the USA". the other says Hot Rod.
I would love to find a "set" and use these as spares.
Help!!!

I use Svetlana/Winged C 6550C's in my 1981 MTI era SVT. They've been in there for six years or so under constant use, with no problems and they sound great. Others have said good words about the EH KT88 and the new Russian made Tung-Sol 6550 in SVT's. I use JJ KT88's in my Sunns and I like these a lot too, and will probably try some in the SVT when the Winged C's need replacement. If you can afford it, NOS GE 6550A's are probably the best choice in an SVT for longevity and sound reasons.
For preamp and driver tubes, NOS is the way to go. The prices aren't bad at all, and Triode Electronics has some very good choices. Another good place to buy tested NOS is Angela Instruments. If you don't mind something not tested as well, Antique Electronics Supply in Arizona is a good choice and is a little cheaper than the others for NOS things.
On my SVT, the front panel is velcroed on the head cabinet, and I have to get something like a thin screwdriver in to wedge it out, being careful to not mess up the tolex. I'm not sure if the SVT Classic is setup like this or not, but it wouldn't surprise me. It is a very tight fit on mine, and holds on quite well. My SVT also needs a fan replacement, but my fan is different than yours and much noisier I would expect!

OK, something bad happened. While I was preparing to get it cleaned up to put back in the cabinet, the wires for the on/off and standby witch got pulled off. There are two yellow and two black.
Any ideas? I can see which terminals, as they are shiny. I just don't know which go where. I looked at a schematic online, and it shows 4 black wires.......
PS - I ordered my tubes.

Hmmm....you need to trace the wires back and see where they go, and study the schematic to see which is which. I would guess the two blacks go together, and the two yellows go together, but you never know how they did it without looking at it closely.
Which tubes did you get?

I put blue JJ KT88's in my Sunn 200S a couple years ago. It looks pretty cool and sounds better. I really like the JJ KT 88's...good choice Charley!
Now, pay attention!

Well they're a good choice Charley. I think you'll be very happy with the JJ's.
You may try shopping at Angela Instruments or Antique Electronics Supply (AES) next time. A bit wider selection and good prices and service. AES is good for new stuff and old stuff alike, and Angela is great for NOS stuff with a bit more of a choice in what you get than AES.

I can only find a 70's era SVT schematic. I need one from the mid 90's to put this back together. Help!!!! Anyone have better luck finding a schematic online?
Hopefully I can find one before tomorrow when I NEED it to work!
