Thinking about my project

Maybe this is the carcass:

I'm thinking about two things - The jack plate, and the trc.
Can I get a generic plate? I may go with generic trc unless I can get one that I am comfortable with as genuine.
Still won't discuss exactly what I want except that, someone will have to make a new fret board.

If you're not in a big hurry to get the project complete, I'm sure you will eventually get lucky and find the jack plate and TRC. I waited over a year to find a jackplate for my '75 fretless, finally got one, thanks to Jeff Thomas.

I already blew it Paul. There was a body on Ebay a few weeks ago. Exactly what I needed. checkered binding, fwmop inlays...and I choked at the end.
Now I realize I would have saved money and aggravation just overpaying a bit. Patience will be a virtue.

Pay attention, the guy has all the bits for auction. There is a disturbing trend (to me at least). Far more can be made on ebay by selling a guitar is pieces than as a whole. This was very common on Fender type bolt together instruments. Look at a guy called Stratosphere on the 'bay.

He (she) literally must buy up hundreds of new Fender instruments and disassembles and sells every part seperately for big money. While there's profit to be made, there is something fundamentally wrong with this approach IMHO. The trend has also now gotten to the Ricks, as I see RIC basses now for sale all the time all disassembled. Not only does it feed the counterfit/lawsuit market, it negatively impacts the quality of the real thing.
I'm not against fixing or restoring guitars, I do it all the time. However to purposefully take one apart and sell it to maximize profit seems wrong somehow.
