Of course, I forgot my camera, but it looks pretty much like the pics at POR. I am waiting until a bit later to plug it in. I brought in the Nemesis NC-200 to put it through a few paces. I think one of the folks who will be in soon, may have a camera, si I can at least show you proof it is in my hot little hands. It seems to be "crying out" for a 5th string!

It is very light, and I did not know it is a walnut sandwich!

Sorry, had a spasm on the enter key!

I also have an idea for the headstock.

What if it was a lighter shade so the walnut wings showed up more?

What if the whole thing was MG?

I like the idea of showing off the sandwich a little better. The darkness of the Monte hides some of it.

I may do nothing, who knows?

So exciting it was worth saying twice! All Cii's are walnut sandwich and mapleglo reveals it the best, I think only 05's and later have walnut wings.

What ever you do don't desecrate that new bass by putting extra holes in it....hee,hee...Image

A little excited, Charly? Image

I think 4004's look best as a MG, but I've never owned one, so I don't count.

congratulations! i was eying that particular bass myself-i do like the monty finish as it is similar looking to my recently departed walnutglo 4002-and i thought the same thing about the dark finish covering up the walnut strips in the headstock. please post your impressions once you get 'er cranked up...esp.neck feel,etc...is yours one with the non-laquered fretboard? (another 4002 similarity)

It has no lacquer on the fretboard.

I'll have to agree with you Charly about the 5 string possibilities of the 4004. The neck is definitely wider and would be easier to convert comfortably. By the way, I'll call you tonight.

Mark, early Ciis were kinduva mishmash of C and Cii features. The body on early Ciis had a walnut body with a maple top, and with the maple neck-through structure. So, if you were to view the back, you couldn't distinguish one from the original C. Later (and how much, ?) they went to the maple/walnut/maple sandwich. So, you would be correct in saying "NEARLY all Ciis had the maple/walnut/maple sandwich."

Seems that the Laredos have finished fingerboards, and the Cii's are unfinished? My Laredo is a finished board.

Some Cii's have finished fretboards, some do not.

Both my Laredo ('05) and Cii ('03) are finished.

My Laredo was/is finished and my, for the moment, TG Cii is unfinished. Both are '05s.

Congrats on the Monty BTW!

How come there are TWO threads here with the same name ?!?!?! Never seen that happen before! Is it because the 4004 Monte is a stereo bass? Image
