They're too cool. I predict they're coming back. So what if they cost more to make? We'll show them the money!

I'm not sure that it's only a question of production cost, Ken. As such I predict CB will be relegated to only certain models.

CB is a "deluxe" feature and I suspect RIC want to preserve its specialness.

btw, +1

CB is frickin' cool to say the least. Ah to have a checker-bound world...

...or at least a 4001v68

I believe it(availability) has to do with the material it is made from.

Charly, the biggest factor here is the labor involved in application. It's enough to keep CB relegated to "premium model" status.

Happily, I do live in a checkerboard world. Man, I put it on everything!

The three guitars in this photo are all double CB-bound, and they rest on my CB dining table.

I heard it was made by virgins, pure of mind and spirit. No wonder it's so rare in these days where having your underwear (what there is of it) hanging out of your pants is standard practice.

My bad. Isn't the material different, and that is what makes it labor intensive?

You know how the memory gets..... well, maybe.

I wonder how many orders he could get from this forum for tables like that?

Todd, just send a few of your virgins, pure of mind and spirit, to my binding factory, and I will help them make it Image

Charly, I was just going to ask if Paul could upgrade MY dining room table to checkerboard binding. All I need to do is find a box big enough for it, and UPS it to his shop, right?? Image

Looks like the size is a bit larger than 1.5mm x 5.0mm, though Image And is it vinyl, ABS, or celluloid, Paul?

It's paint.

Charly, no "bads" here. Just learning and sharing...I sound like Barney...

The material is not real expensive per unit, and the process for applying it not complex, but it is labor-intensive and uses lots of rubber bands.

Big rubber bands.
