I bought a 73' jetglo of ebay...............

i still find it amazing that you can go back 1 year and the basses are so much nicer........you have to pay for it tho

That's only the second '72 I've ever seen that didn't have the wide inlays. And the first white one. I can't tell that much from the pics, but I'm still not absolutely convinced that is actually a '72, even though the listed serial number would make it one...

The white one could very well be what it is represented to be, but I have never seen a 1972 bass as early as this example (LD) with the smaller triangle inlays.....I would like to see better pics of this bass.. My Dec. 1972 4001 was made with crushed-pearl neck inlay.....

yeah that puzzled me too.....i thought 73 was the first year as far as the newer inlays went

The white one I believe to have replacement pickguard and TRC. I also have never seen a pre-'73 without wide inlays. The black one is definately pre '73, and I think it even has the metal handrest pictured. From the description it doesn't sound like he has this anymore though.

What's more amazing is that it's still white... no yellowing, I'd almost say that it's a later post 73 with a refin.

I,ve never seen a pre 73 white with the vintage appointments for sale. The only one I,ve seen is the one Maurice Gibb has on this site. I think they were a pretty rare colour choice. I,d agree that it looks like a later model with a refin. Much better pics are needed. That flamey neck on the jetglo looks well impressive, but am I the only here that doesn,t care for jetglo..

Did anyone notice the full shot picture of the Jetglo 4001, the one with the bass outside? It's the same picture that Mike Park's has on his site of a 72 that he sold about 3 years ago.
I don't want to assume anything, but perhaps this is the same bass that Mike had.
I came close to buying it from Mike back then, that's why I'm familiar with this particular picture.

After taking a closer look at the picture of the bass lying in its case, I don't think it's the same bass as the one Mike had. I don't see the thumbrest on the bass lying in the case. However the other photo (from Mike's site) clearly shows a thumbrest on the bass.
Let's see what the seller has to say. I've sent a request for information from him.

I heard back from the owners of both of these basses. The photos of the 72 Jetglo 4001 are of two different basses. Apparently, the sellers friend bought the Nov 72 4001 from Mike Park's and both basses are identical except, the one listed is missing the thumb rest.
The seller claims that his photos of his bass are all in bmp format and ebay will not accept this format, just jpegs. So he used the one jpeg he had of his bass and added a photo of his friends 4001. I've suggest that he might want to add a comment about this photos to his listing.

The seller of the white 4001, claims that it is a factory original finish. He has offered to send me some close ups of the bass on Friday detailing the binding, tailpiece and neck position markers.
I'll let everyone know what shows up when I get them.

Dan, why do you think the TRC and pickguard are replacements?
I love that white/white one, that is my favorite color, and that Jetglo would look nice next to my 72 4001FL jetglo...... Would be nice if I had some money in my bank account too.

That white '72 might look very much like this June '73 (MF 2241) Cream girl who's got short inlays too but with what seems like a 1" toaster-to-neck distance.
