Sorry Guys, still not sure what to do when we find a faker? Has John Hall given us info on what action to take?

"Buy it, then burn it". Kiddin'. That one looks nice, imo. If we forget it's a faker, it looks very nice, imo.

Nah, that one looks as if it was made of what was at hand...

Yeah. It's a Kay, made in the early '70s I believe. I worked on one of those a couple months back. Very crudely made indeed. The (unbearably microphonic) pickups were hot and great-sounding though. Came in at approx. 4.0 K.
But I certainly would rather go after the guy currently selling fake Rick TRCs on Ebay. His sales pitch makes me wanna throw up, too!

I would say that out of all three. only the second is a true faker. The first is not a copy of any RIC, though it may have some trade dress issues in the body styling. With the relationship Shaftsbury and RIC had at some point it may not be a problem. I suspect Mr. Hall will know what to do.
The second is a clear copy. It's pretty up front about it too.
The third appears to have been used to dig a vegetable patch with. I doubt the RIC would want to pursue it at all. It would be embarassing to associate it with the company in any way, even as a bad copy.

John, what do I do if I find more fakers like these? I can just post here again if you would like or is it frankly a pain to deal with this stuff?

The Kay looks like a Kindergartener made it. You'd have to be pretty drunk to think that's a real RIC.

It is a pain for us to deal with, but it's always appreciated when you provide a report to
[email protected], as suggested above.

There you go. That's why you have a successful company, and I have a chronic 4000 series collecting habit. Nice work Mr. H

Heeere we go again... (not a bass, though, but the copy made by them i've seen for sale here was of a 4003, iirc...)
